Efficient is looking for an Engineering Manager (Hardware) to manage the digital and physical design teams. This is a unique opportunity to work with an intensely skilled engineering team developing the world’s most efficient, programmable processor. The manager will collaborate with team leads to set the roadmap and priorities for each team. They will be deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of each team, while also having the opportunity to engage with external partners to augment internal engineering efforts. Key responsibilities
- Leading the management of digital design and physical design teams, including
- Working closely with team leads to set roadmaps
- Creating sprint retrospectives and plans
- Manage day-to-day operations, including conducting daily scrum/standup meetings
- Creating, rescoping, prioritizing and generally keeping track of tasks
- Developing the engineering team by
- Conducting frequent 1:1s with team members
- Creating growth plans with key performance indicators for each team member
- Measuring and tracking the performance of team members
- Engaging with external vendors/partners to augment internal engineering efforts by
- Developing clears statements of work
- Conducting frequent alignment meetings
- Tracking the progress of external contractors
Required qualifications & experience
- Must be an excellent manager with 5+ years of post-graduate experience
- Must have some background in physical design OR digital design, having worked as an engineer AND having managed a team of physical design engineers
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
- Prior experience leading projects and scaling teams for growth in chip design
- Outstanding communication skills and a strong attention to detail
Desired qualifications & experience
- Some proficiency with (System) Verilog, Python, and TCL
- Some experience with various EDA CAD tools (e.g. Innovus, Genus, DC, etc.) and their use in a flow
- Knowledge of computer architecture
